Actor Vijay Deverakonda all set to foray into Hindi films with Dharma production’s Liger(Saala Crosssbreed). The makers today shared the first glimpse of the film on social media. The pan-India project helmed by director Puri Jagannadh is a sports film about an Indian MMA (Mixed Martial arts) fighter.
“Glimpse. That’s it. #LigerFirstGlimpse #Liger,” the 32-year-old actor wrote on Instagram as he shared the teaser.

The teaser begins with an MMA commentator introducing Vijay as “The boy from India, the slumdog from the streets of Mumbai, and the chaiwala..Liger”. In the video, the 32-year-old actor is seen walking on the streets of Mumbai, along with his mother, played by actress Ramya Krishnan. Throughout the video, snippets of Liger’s struggle from making ends meet to fighting in the streets of Mumbai leading to his epic fight in the boxing ring is shown. In some of the snippets, ace actor Ronit Roy’s character is captured while Ananya Panday is missing.
With a couple of impactful dialogues, Vijay creates much appeal to his introduction in the video. He says: “Vaat lagaa denge”, his character is established as an angry young man.Indicating his complete physical makeover, Vijay looks with a chiseled physique and sports a completely new cornrows hairdo along with a ponytail.
Along with Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Pandey, the film also features actor and boxer Mike Tyson, who will play a pivotal role. According to reports, the whole team and crew members had shot with the boxer in the US earlier this year. They had even shared BTS pictures on social media.
Ramya Krishnan, Ronit Roy, Vishu Reddy, Ali, Makarand Desh Pandey, and Getup Srinu have important roles in the film. Vishnu Sarma is handling the cinematography for ‘Liger’, while Kecha from Thailand is the stunt director. Puri connects and Dharma Productions have bankrolled ‘Liger’ jointly, with Puri Jagannadh, Charmme Kaur, Karan Johar, and Apoorva Mehta as the producers.
The makers have also released a special Instagram filter with the film’s theme kick-starting the promotional activities.
The much-awaited movie is set to hit the theatres in August 2022 and will also release in Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada languages.
Vijay Deverakonda made his acting debut in 2011 film Nuvvila. However, his breakout performance was in the 2016 film Pelli Choopulu. The actor is best-known for his performances in films like Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Arjun Reddy, Ye Mantram Vesave, Mahanati, Nadigaiyar Thilagam, Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade, to name a few. In terms of work, the Telugu star was last seen in World Famous Lover.
