Steve Burton has officially ending his marriage his to wife Sheree Burton after more than two decades of marriage. A rep for the actor who took Jason Morgan on the US soap confirmed the divorce filing to PEOPLE, with the 51-year-old citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the divorce, according to TMZ.
The news comes just over two months after Burton revealed that Sheree is expecting another man’s child. In his Instagram story in May, Burton said he “clearly” wants the couple to be apart. “Recently my wife confirmed her pregnancy with her fourth child. The child is not mine,” he wrote.
Burton and Gustin apparently only “co-existed” in their marriage before the divorce was made public. The upload comes two months after Steve shocked fans by revealing they were no longer with his fitness wife, 47, who is now pregnant.
The actor and Sheree got hitched in 1999 after meeting on the set of General Hospital. The couple share daughters Makena, 18, Brooklyn, 7, and a son Jack, 16.
Steve now appears as Harris Michaels on Peacock’s Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem. And while he’s been involved with Days of Our Lives since 1988, he’s just as well-known for his work on General Hospital, which began in 1991. Steve left the show in 2012 and has since appeared on The Young and the Restless. But he returned to GH in 2017 only to release the coronavirus vaccine mandate 7 months ago.
