Hollywood star Ryan Gosling’s name has been floated as a potentially strong contender to star in Marvel’s Nova, which is rumored to be getting a live-action film. However, the actor apparently sparked speculation in a recent interview with Josh Horowitz on MTV News’ Happy Sad Confused podcast, where Ryan said he wanted to play Ghost Rider.
Next week my full chat w/Ryan Gosling for @MTVNews— Josh Horowitz (@joshuahorowitz) July 12, 2022
But for now, an honest to goodness EXCLUSIVE.
Ryan and I chatted about the Nova rumors yesterday which he said aren’t true. BUT this morning Ryan reached out to me to say there is one superhero he wants to play…GHOST RIDER pic.twitter.com/1jnC5ht4UY
The motorcycle-riding vigilante is one of Marvel’s most popular characters, previously portrayed by Nicolas Cage in the 2007 film Ghost Rider and also in the 2011 film Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.
The Notebook star will appear alongside Margot Robbie in the action film Barbie, directed by Gerta Gerwing. While Margot appears in a ritualistic role, Gosling appears to have her love interest, Ken. Glimpses of the project have been circulating on the internet, with fans praising the lead duo for their unique looks.
Fans were divided on the idea of Ryan Gosling as Ghost Rider in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after rumors that he was cast as Nova in favor of the Spirit of Vengeance. While some believe he is perfect for the role, others think there are better superheroes than Ghost Rider. Some believe the MCU version of Ghost Rider shouldn’t go to Gosling, preferring Walking Dead veteran Norman Reedus to skin and burn his skull.
Ryan is once again gearing up for the release of the Russo Brothers ‘The Gray Man’, which also stars Chris Evans and Dhanush. The highly anticipated film will hit Netflix on July 22 after a limited theatrical release on July 15.
