
the first-ever Bangladeshi movie “Rehana Maryam Noor” has been featured in the Un Certain Regard section of the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, premiered yesterday. Directed by Abdullah Mohammad Saad had received a standing ovation from the audience after the screening.
“It’s difficult to put in words how I felt at that moment. Many greeted me with hugs. I’m overwhelmed,” Badhon said in the statement.
The film is based on Rehana Maryam Noor, a 37-year-old private college teacher. Rehana has a difficult life as a mother, daughter, sister and teacher. One day, she witnessed an unexpected thing while leaving the college. Since then, she has spoken on behalf of his medical students against her fellow teacher. The school authorities also abused Rehana’s 6-year-old daughter and Rehanna continued to seek justice for her son and the student from outside.
