Early Life

Justin Bieber was born in London, Ontario, on March 1, 1994. Bieber was raised by his maternal grandmother and step-grandfather because his parents never married and his mother was underage when she gave birth. He learned to play the piano, drums, guitar, and trumpet as a child. In 2012, he received his diploma from St. Michael Catholic Secondary School in Stratford, Ontario.

Bieber placed second in a local Stratford singing competition when he was 12 years old, singing Ne-“So Yo’s Sick.” Bieber’s mother uploaded a video of the performance on YouTube so that friends and family could watch it, and she continued to publish videos of Bieber performing cover songs.

Scooter Braun, a record executive, inadvertently clicked on one of Bieber’s 2007 videos while looking for footage of a different performer. Impressed by what he saw, he tracked down Bieber and persuaded his mother to allow him to transport him to Atlanta, where he recorded demo tapes. Bieber was singing for R&B artist Usher just a week after arriving in Atlanta.

Soon after, he was signed to RBMG, a joint venture between Braun and Usher, which assisted him in auditioning for The Island Def Jam Music Group. In October 2008, Bieber signed with Island Records and went to Atlanta with his mother to continue working with Braun and Usher. In 2008, Braun took over as Bieber’s manager.

Bieber’s debut album, “My World” and “My World 2.0,” was published in two parts in 2010. Performances on live shows such as “The Today Show,” “The Wendy Williams Show,” “Good Morning America,” and “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” were among his promotional endeavors for the album. “My World” sold over one million records in the United States in less than two months after its debut.

The RIAA has awarded that album a 5x platinum certification. “My World” was the first debut album to feature four songs in the Billboard Top 40 prior to its release (One Time, One Less Lonely Girl, Love Me, and Favorite Girl). “My World 2.0” opened at number one on the Billboard 200 in the United States, selling 698,000 copies in its first three weeks. Since Steven Wonder in 1963, Bieber has become the youngest solo male performer to reach the top of the charts.

Justin’s track “Baby,” which featured rapper Ludacris, immediately became his best-selling single of all time, selling over 15 million copies worldwide. His second album, “Under the Mistletoe,” a collection of Christmas tunes, sold 2 million copies. His third album, “Believe,” was released in 2012 and sold 3 million copies worldwide.

The 3D part-biopic, the part-concert film “Justin Bieber: Never Say Never” was released in February 2011 as Bieber’s star grew. The picture topped the box office with an estimated opening day gross of $12.4 million from 3,105 theaters, and total worldwide revenue of over $98 million. Bieber also released the CD “Never Say Never – The Remixes” to coincide with the film (Feb. 2011). He was ranked number two on Forbes’ list of Best-Paid Celebrities Under 30 in June 2011, having earned $53 million in a 12-month period.

“Under the Mistletoe,” a Christmas album, was published in October 2011 to great acclaim and was quickly followed by “Believe” in June 2012 and “Believe Acoustic” in January 2013. Jon M. Chu directed “Justin Bieber’s Believe,” a follow-up to his debut film, which was released in December 2013. In 2016, his song “Where Are Ü Now,” which he released in February 2015, received a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording. With his track “What Do You Mean,” off his album “Purpose,” Bieber set a Guinness World Record for the youngest male artist to debut at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 list (Nov. 2015). “Changes,” his follow-up album, was released on February 14, 2020.

The music video for “Baby” has over 2.1 billion views on YouTube as of this writing. His music video for “Sorry” has been seen over 3 billion times. On YouTube, he has more than 50 million subscribers.

Justin Bieber began a high-profile romance with actress and singer Selena Gomez in December 2010. Until March 2018, the couple enjoyed an on-again, off-again romance. Between December 2015 and January 2016, Bieber dated Hailey Baldwin for a short time during one of his separations from Gomez, and the pair reconnected in May 2018. They were engaged in July 2018, and their wedding took place on September 30, 2019. Hailey is an American model and also the niece of Alec Baldwin.

Bieber is said to have an O-1 visa for temporary resident status in the United States as a Canadian citizen, however, TMZ claims from September 2018 claim he has started the process of becoming an American citizen following his marriage to Baldwin.

Despite his enormous success in the music industry, he, like many other young superstars, has been the subject of media scandals. He was arrested in 2014 for a DUI, drag racing, and resisting arrest; he was also showing some erratic behavior at the time of his detention, and his popularity fell momentarily as a result of his activities.
