John Abraham and wife Priya Runchal have tested positive for COVID-19, the actor announced on social media, adding that they are quarantined at home and have mild symptoms of the infection. The actor also revealed that he came in contact with a COVID positive person three days ago.
Taking to his Instagram handle on Monday, John shared an official statement with his fans that read, ‘I came in contact 3 days ago with someone who I later learned had COVID. Priya and I have tested positive for COVID. We have been quarantined at home so haven’t been in contact with anyone else. We are both vaccinated and experience mild symptoms. Please stay well and healthy. Masks up.’

The actor and his wife are the latest Bollywood celebrities to test positive for COVID-19, at a time when India is seeing a massive surge in infections and a fast spread of the Omicron variant of the virus.
Recently, actress Mrunal Thakur and Nora Fatehi were also tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Both the actresses shared this news with all their fans and well-wishers through their social media handles. While Mrunal revealed that she has mild symptoms and following all the protocols given by the doctor and health professionals, Nora stated in her statement ‘I am currently battling Covid..it has honestly hit me real hard! I have been bedridden for a few days now under the doctor’s supervision.’ Last month, actors Kareena Kapoor Khan, Amrita Arora, Arjun Kapoor and his sister Anshula, Anil Kapoor’s daughter Rhea Kapoor and husband Karan Boolani were also tested positive for coronavirus.
On the work front, John was last seen in ‘Satyameva Jayate 2’ alongside Divya Khosla Kumar. He was seen playing three roles and the film was billed as the sequel to the 2018 film Satyameva Jayate which is helmed by Milap Zaveri.
Currently the actor has got multiple projects in the pipeline. He will next be seen in films like ‘Attack’, In the film, the star will be seen as a supercop whose singular focus is to ward off terrorist threats on Indian soil. Apart from him, the film also stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Rakul Preet Singh in pivotal roles. Written and directed by Lakshya Raj Anand, the film will the theatres on January 26 this year.
Apart from this, John is also a part of Siddharth Anand’s ‘Pathan’ where he will be seen sharing the screen space with Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone for the first time. He has also been roped in for Mohit Suri’s ‘Ek Villain Returns’. The film will also star Arjun Kapoor, Tara Sutaria and Disha Patani in lead roles.
Meanwhile, keeping in view the current situation of the pandemic, the release date of many films like ‘Jersey’, ‘RRR’ and others have been postponed.
