Cyndi Lauper’s son Declyn Lauper was arrested in Manhattan after police found him sitting in the driver’s seat of a stolen car, police said on Saturday. A 24-year-old man was arrested at 1:40 a.m. Thursday after the NYPD spotted an illegal 2014 Mercedes-Benz double parked at the corner of West 140th Street and Broadway, police said.
A computer check revealed the car was stolen, according to the NYPD, which charged Lauper with felony unauthorized use of a car.
Lauper is the only child of her 1980s Grammy-winning pop star mother and her husband David Thornton. He raps under the name Dex Lauper. Declyn Lauper shared a photo of himself and his mother in an Instagram story.
Declyn could not be reached for comment on Saturday. A rep for his mother did not immediately return a request for comment. The family was together for an entire season on the television series “Cyndi Lauper: Still So Unusual,” which premiered in 2013.
