Julee Cruise, who is best known for her performance in the Twin Peaks franchise and also as the muse of David Lynch, died at the age of 65. David Lynch collaborated with Cruise on the production of the single ‘Falling’, which became the central melody of Twin Peaks. The popular song is a release from his 1989 album Floating Into The Night.
The musician also recently re-released The Voice of Love (1993) with David Lynch and Angelo Badalamenti. Cruis’ most famous song, Falling-its Instrumental, written by Angelo Badalamenti, was used as the theme for Twin Peaks, Lynch’s iconic television film, which debuted in 1990. Lynch wrote lyrics for Cruise’s vocal version, which reached number 7 on the UK charts. a hit across Europe and at the top of the Australian singles chart. This was recorded on his debut album Floating Into the Night, which was released in 1989.
Her husband Edward Grinnan posted: “She left this kingdom on her own terms. No remorse. She was peaceful … I played her [song B-52] Roam during her transition. Now she will walk forever. Rest in peace, my love. “

Cruise was born in Iowa in 1956 and began working with Lynch in 1986 on his film Blue Velvet, which included his collaboration on Badalamenti’s Mysteries of Love. In 1990, she appeared as a character called The Dreamself of the Heartbroken Woman in Lynch’s avant-garde theatrical production, Industrial Symphony No. 1, next to Nicolas Cage and Laura Dern. Her songwriting brought her an enthusiastic cult, which was attracted by Cruise’s deceptive purity and innocent performance.
She appeared as a character in Twin Peaks, a song in a city bar and in the supporting film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. She also appeared in Twin Peaks: The Return, Lynch’s third season show, in 2017.
Cruise shared her fight with autoimmune disease Lupus in 2017 and previously told Pitchfork that she “had the bones of an 85-year-old woman at the age of 33”.
In the same interview, the musician said that a “mega amount of anti-inflammatory drugs” was needed. She also said “It’s going to give me liver cancer before I die of kidney failure for lupus. I it fucked up, but I still look beautiful!”
