The makers of the much-awaited film starring Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya pandey and Dhairya Karva announced its title and release date on social media on Monday.
Filmmaker Karan Johar, who is backing the film, took to his Instagram handle to share the teaser of the film.He announced that the film is titled ‘Gehraiyaan’ and will release on Amazon Prime Video on January 25,2022.

The teaser begins with a knock at Deepika Padukone’s door, who finds Siddhant Chaturvedi on the other side of it. The two embrace as a soothing song Gehraiyaan begins to play. We also see glimpses of Ananya Panday and Dhairya Karwa. Going by the teaser, it is difficult to decipher the plot of the film. However, one thing is obvious – it is a deep tale of love and the complications that come with it.
Sharing the teaser, Deepika Padukone wrote: “A piece of my heart…” Siddhant had this to say about the film: “They say you leave pieces of yourself in everything you love. Maybe you’ll find my heart here.” Ananya Panday wrote: “It’s time to dive in a little deeper.”
Directed by Shakun Batra, the film also features Nasseruddin Shah and Rajat Kapur in pivotal roles.
Jointly produced by Dharma Productions & Viacom18 Studios in association with Jouska Films, ‘Gehraiyaan’ is a relationship drama about complex modern relationships.
Prior to the announcement, Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Pandey shared behind-the-scene photos and penned heartfelt notes. “Yes, It has been a bit of a wait. But as the saying goes. Sometimes, the longer you wait for something, the more you appreciate it when it finally arrives! Hopefully, the same holds true here. I took the opportunity to be a part of something that I believe was truly magical. According to co-producer, Karan Johar, ‘Gehraiyaan’ is an intense, real, and honest observation of modern relationships. He said, “Shakun Batra has done a phenomenal job of portraying the complexities of human emotions. That, combined with the cast’s earnest and powerful performances, make the film a truly compelling story. We’re thrilled to premiere Gehraiyaan on to Amazon Prime Video. This is our second collaboration following Shershaah and we are hoping the film, with its universally appealing subject of love and friendship versus one’s ambition, goals, and struggles, will find resonance with audiences in India and across the world.””
Speaking about the film, director Batra described his film as a journey into the “intricacies of relationships”, a mirror into modern adult relationships.
“How we traverse through the maze of feelings and emotions and how each step, each decision we make affects our lives and the lives of those around,I am immensely glad to have taken this journey with the incredible team and Dharma Productions, the exceptionally talented cast and crew, and now Amazon Prime Video.”” he said in a statement.
Apart from Shakun Batra’s film, Deepika is also gearing up for the release of Pathan, on which more details are expected soon. On the other hand, she will also be seen in Rohit Shetty’s Cirkus that features an ensemble cast of many talented actors namely Varun Sharma, Siddhartha Jadhav, Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra, Vrajesh Hirjee, Vijay Patkar, Sulbha Arya, Mukesh Tiwari, Anil Charanjeett, Ashwini Kalsekar, Murli Sharma and others. It is slated for a theatrical release on 15 July 2022. She is also working with Telugu filmmaker Nag Ashwin on Project K, which is set to go on floors in 2023.
