Early Life
David Michael Bautista Jr. was born in a Washington, D.C. suburb on January 18, 1969. His parents are from Greece and the Philippines, respectively. Bautista subsequently revealed that he grew up in a dangerous area where killings were committed on a daily basis right outside his front door. He also discussed the financial difficulties his family had when he was a child. Bautista was soon involved in criminal activity. He became a vehicle thief at the age of 13 and eventually moved away from his parents to pursue a criminal career.
Career

Wrestling and MMA Career: Bautista began wrestling professionally in 1999 after attending the Wild Samoan Training Center wrestling school. He got into professional wrestling shortly after, but eventually returned to Muay Thai, Eskrima, and Jiu-Jitsu training. In terms of the latter, he received his training from Cesar Gracie.
Despite signing with the WWF in the year 2000, Bautista began his career in Ohio Valley Wrestling. He was fighting under the moniker “Leviathan” at the time. Before losing to Kane and Steve Austin, he went unbeaten in his early battles. Before being promoted to WWE’s main roster, he won the OVW Heavyweight Championship.
Bautista did not participate in a WWE televised event until 2002. He changed his stage name to “Deacon Batista” at this moment. Bautista used to team up with D-Von and win a lot of fights. Bautista eventually betrayed D-Von, resulting in a long enmity. He and Ric Flair joined Evolution in 2003. Evolution would go on to be a very successful team, winning several championships throughout the years. The Evolution alliance eventually got strained as Triple H viewed Bautista as a danger.
Bautista won the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 21 after turning on members of the Evolution team. The event drew nearly 1.09 million PPV sales, thanks in large part to Bautista’s popularity among fans. With a reign of 282 days, he became the World Heavyweight Champion for the first time. He eventually had to withdraw from the tournament due to a reoccurring triceps strain.
Dave Bautista’s only MMA bout was against Vince Lucero in 2010. In the first round, Bautista won via TKO.
Despite the fact that he needed surgery on his arm, he returned to WWE to battle for the championship once again. In the years that followed, he won and lost the title several times, and he struggled with arm ailments. He notably exploited this to his advantage when he tricked Randy Orton into letting his guard down with a phony arm vice. Despite continuing to fight for the following few years, Bautista’s injuries were beginning to catch up with him. He genuinely compressed his L1 spine after a bout against John Cena and subsequently appeared in a wheelchair.
Bautista began to be booed by crowds in 2013 and forward. This resulted in a gradual decline, culminating in Bautista’s retirement from the WWE. Although Bautista stated publicly that he left because Triple H refused to give him a shot at the title, the actual reason for the separation was due to “creative issues” behind closed doors. Despite this, Bautista returned to WWE in 2018, making one final appearance against Triple H before retiring completely in 2019.
Acting Career: Dave Bautista has been acting for a long time. He portrayed an extraterrestrial villain in the sixth season of Smallville. He had a brief appearance in the Australian serial series Neighbours in 2009. He made his acting debut in the action-comedy Chuck in 2010. He performed in films like Relative Strangers and Wrong Side of Town throughout the following few years. With the 2012 film The Man with the Iron Fists, Bautista was able to showcase his martial arts talents, and he proceeded to have success in the film industry.
In 2014, he had a huge role in the film Guardians of the Galaxy, which was maybe his biggest break in the industry. Dave Bautista demonstrated his acting ability in this role, forcing Hollywood to take him seriously. In 2015, he starred as the ruthless assassin Mr. Hinx in the James Bond thriller Spectre. Bautista had another major cinematic cameo in Blade Runner 2049, as a replicant, after collaborating with Georges St-Pierre in Kickboxer.
In 2017, he returned to the character of Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Bautista won roles in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame after joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Bautista was cast in a prominent part in the forthcoming picture Dune, which was revealed in 2019. Bautista has also starred in a number of other films and television shows.
