According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will describe a complex love story between Leonard Bernstein and Felicia Cohn Montealegre (Carey). It is a story that has lasted for more than 30 years, since she met at a party in 1946 and continued with two engagements, a 25-year marriage, three children (Jamie, Alexander and Nina) and Leonard struggling with her sexual orientation. Maestro also describes Cooper’s first directorial attempt since 2018 as A Star Is Born, another film by a music artist in which he also dies. As Cooper confirmed to Variety earlier this year, “Maestra” production will begin this month. Filmmakers should not expect to see the film until 2023. Steven Spielberg originally directed the drama about Bernstein’s biography and hired Cooper to star in it. Cooper was from “A Star Is Born” at the time and was more interested in writing and directing films than in the acting role of another, even Spielberg.
