Betty White’s 100th birthday is being filmed for an upcoming documentary. The former Golden Girl and national treasure, turns 100 on January 17. To mark this event the iconic actress has a movie special premiering in theaters for one day only. The event was announced by Fathom Events on Thursday.
‘Betty White: 100 Years Young‘, will feature White as well as a star-studded cast of her friends, including Ryan Reynolds, Tina Fey, Robert Redford, Lin Manuel- Miranda, Clint Eastwood, Morgan Freeman, Jay Leno, Carol Burnett, Craig Ferguson, Jimmy Kimmel, Valerie Bertinelli, James Corden, Wendy Malick and Jennifer Love Hewitt.

The film will highlight key moments in the actresses long career and her performances in The Golden Girls, hosting SNL, Hot in Cleveland, The Proposal and a special lost episode from White’s first sitcom.
The movie, made by Steve Boettcher and Mike Trinklein, follows White in her day-to-day life, including behind-the-scenes on sets, working with her office staff, entertaining at home, lending her voice as an animal advocate and, take viewers to her actual birthday party.
The movie is packed with clips from some of White’s iconic roles, including Rose on “Golden Girls,” her hosting gig on “Saturday Night Live,” her Super Bowl/Snickers commercial, and her role as Sue Ann on The Mary Tyler Moore Show. “100 Years Young” will also feature a look at a lost episode from White’s ’50s sitcom days.. The movie will also honor White’s role as the first woman to produce a national TV show, and the first woman to receive an Emmy nomination..
“Hello, I’m Betty White. I feel so fortunate to have had as great a career as I’ve had for as long as I have,” the icon says in a trailer for the movie celebration.
Several stars are then shown saying her name, including Reynolds, Burnett, Bertinelli and the late Alex Trebek.
“It’s just the magic of Betty White — not everybody has that,” Bertinelli adds at the end of the clip.
“Who doesn’t love a party?!? This one is gonna be great,” White said in a statement.
Filmmaker Steve Boettcher added, “We didn’t want this day to pass without bringing together all the people that love her, from her co-stars and friends to her many millions of fans of all ages, to celebrate her 100th birthday with an entertaining and loving look at what makes Betty a national treasure.”
Betty White: 100 Years Young will screen in 900 movie theaters nationwide on Jan. 17, 2022, the day of White’s centenary. Screenings will begin at local times of 1 p.m. and 7 p.m.
